About the Journal
Overview
AI in Teaching and Learning (CUAITL) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal published by Cosmopolitan University, Nigeria. The journal advances scholarly understanding of how artificial intelligence is reshaping education — from early childhood through higher education and professional development.
CUAITL bridges the gap between AI research and classroom application, publishing rigorous work that examines how intelligent technologies shape curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, learner engagement, assessment, and institutional policy. The journal fosters critical, evidence-based discourse on both the opportunities and ethical considerations of AI-driven learning environments.
Aims and Scope
The journal welcomes original research articles, systematic review papers, case studies, and well-grounded theoretical contributions. We invite interdisciplinary work connecting computer science, pedagogy, cognitive science, policy studies, and the social sciences around the theme of AI-enabled learning. Topics of particular interest include:
- Intelligent tutoring systems and adaptive learning environments
- Natural language processing and generative AI in educational applications
- Machine learning for learner analytics, early-warning systems, and personalisation
- AI-assisted curriculum design, lesson planning, and assessment
- Ethics, equity, and bias in AI-driven education
- Teacher professional development and digital literacy for AI integration
- Institutional policy frameworks for responsible AI adoption in schools and universities
- AI tools supporting learners with disabilities and special educational needs

Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review. Each manuscript is assessed by at least two independent reviewers with subject-area expertise. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts on originality, methodological rigour, theoretical contribution, and clarity of presentation. The editorial board makes all final publication decisions. Authors can expect an initial decision within eight to twelve weeks of submission.
Open Access Policy
CUAITL is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely available worldwide immediately upon publication, with no subscription or pay-per-view charges. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, permitting sharing and adaptation with appropriate attribution.
Publication Schedule
The journal publishes two issues per year: Issue 1 in June and Issue 2 in December. The editorial board may commission special issues on emerging topics of particular significance.
Indexing and Preservation
Articles published in CUAITL are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for persistent citation and are submitted to major academic indexing services. The journal participates in the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS distributed digital preservation networks to ensure the long-term availability of the scholarly record.
